Adult coloring has become a very inspiring and creative habit for many people. Adults are becoming more aware of the stress reducing and relaxing benefits that coloring provides. This trend is turning into a way of life for many people wanting to have fun, reduce stress and get their creative juices flowing. I think of coloring as a way to calm my mind. It only takes 10 minutes to feel the benefits of coloring. After a coloring session I have a easier time focusing on my other responsibilities and daily To Do's.
To my surprise there are many articles about adult coloring. I came across a great article on usatoday.com. According to Lacy Mucklow, an author of several great adult coloring books.
"Coloring is not going to help somebody that has been traumatized," Mucklow says. "But it's a great for people who want to come home from a stressful day at work and unwind."
I understand coloring cannot solve all of our problems. However, its important to tap into this “childlike” form of entertainment from time to time in order to center yourself and remind yourself of simpler times.
These adult coloring pages/books are not like the books you give your children. Some drawings tend to have more detail then The Smurfs coloring books I grew up coloring. (opps did I just age myself…lol) Depending on the complexity of the drawing it may take up to a week to color these pages. Young children would lose interest with these types of drawings.
I wanted to come up with my own coloring page. The photo above is my idea of a “first time back” adult coloring page. My goal was to create something I felt would be relatively simple for those who haven’t colored anything in years and may not want to spend hours coloring.
